Bishop Frank Summerfield & Pastor JoeNell Summerfield
In 1988, Bishop Frank and Pastor JoeNell Summerfield answered the call of God and founded Word of God Fellowship in Raleigh, NC—beginning with just six chairs in their kitchen. Rooted in faith, bold vision, and tireless love for people, they shepherded the ministry from a storefront church into a thriving, Spirit-filled community impacting thousands. Their leadership birthed not only a dynamic church but also Word of God Christian Academy, a beacon of excellence in Christian education.
Together for over 40 years in marriage and ministry, Bishop and Pastor JoeNell faithfully taught the Word, empowered families, and expanded their God-given vision to include housing developments, educational institutions, and a national television ministry. Their legacy lives on in every life changed, every student empowered, and every soul reached for Christ.
Though they both transitioned to glory in 2017, their spiritual and educational legacy continues to grow under the leadership of their son, Pastor Mitchell Summerfield. The fruit of their faith is seen in generations touched by the power, presence, and promises of God through Word of God Fellowship Church.
